News: IAADP and ADC Bring Joint Conference to the OuGet Sound

The International Association of Assistance Dog Partners and The Assistance Dog
Club of Puget Sound (IAADP/ADC)will be holding a joint conference on September
25 and 26, 2010
at the Embassy suites Hotel,
Seattle, WA

Information will be posted on the ADC website www.dogsaver.org/adc and the
IAADP website www.iaadp.org shortly.

The ADC presenters on Sunday September 26th will be:
  • Karen Overall DVM speaking on Treating Aggression in the Working Assistance Dog
  • Don Brandon Project Director DBTAC
Northwest Center for Continuing Ed in Rehabilitation
who will be speaking on Assistance Dogs in the Workplace: Rights and
Responsibilities

ADC will have round table topics at lunch.

News: Milk-Bone Sponsors Documentary on Service Dogs

Pet treats brand Milk-Bone wants to show the world “through a dog’s eyes” in a documentary airing on the Public Broadcasting Service’s network of TV stations this spring.

“Through a Dog’s Eyes,” as the documentary is called, shows what happens when service dog recipients are matched with their canine companions for the first time. Read More

News: La Vergne welcomes 'classmate'

Sixth-graders at La Vergne Middle learned how to interact with their newest classmate Tuesday afternoon.
This new student is a little different from the other middle schoolers. Salsa won't have to take tests, do homework or read any books. Instead, her only job is to follow student Destiny O'Brien around and to warn those around her when she is about to have a seizure.
The golden retriever is considered Rutherford County Schools' first service dog. Read More

Video Shows Program's Experience Career Changing a Promising Service Dog Candidate

This video shows that experienced trainer's with cream of the crop dogs cannot make a dog into something that would be contrary to it's nature. Don't forget the tissues everyone! I applaud the trainer for having the love to let the dog do what make it happiest.
